Last week we went to Packaging Innovations 2016, the UK's leading packaging event. If you didn't get a chance to come along, you could keep up on the action as it was happening on Twitter at @CodaPlastics - and if you want to find out more, here's our diary of the show.
Day One
As we arrive in Birmingham the Coda Plastics team is excited, and maybe a bit nervous. Packaging Innovations 2016 is the UK's biggest packaging show, and we're just one of over 200 businesses exhibiting. The NEC is a hub of activity. All around us, exhibitors are setting up their stands ready for the big day tomorrow. It's like an enormous building site.
Coda Plastics is on stand G40, at the far side of the building. We're close to the Innovation Gallery and the Networking Bar (and not too far from the cafe!) so we should be in a good position to attract people as they walk by. We set up our stand then head to the hotel to try and get some sleep.
Day Two
It's Wednesday 24 February, and it's the first day of Packaging Innovations 2016! The show opens at 10am and before long, the show floor is buzzing with exhibitors and visitors. There are product launches, demonstrations and talks. Money, products, brochures and business cards are changing hands.
At our stand, we're drawing people in with our free tooling offer and our product launch. Our innovative new product, the Jeyes Fluid Smart Brush Pack, has been on sale at Ocado for about a week, but these are the first samples to go on display in the UK. Within half an hour of the show's start, our first new customer is in the bag!
Day Three
Yesterday was a great day, and we're thrilled at the positive responses we've been getting as people see the Smart Brush Pack for the first time. Today is a bit more relaxed. From 2.30pm to 3.30pm it's Happy Hour at our stand, and the glasses of wine are definitely getting people's attention!
As the day draws to a close, we congratulate ourselves on a successful show. Packaging Innovations 2016 has been a great chance to share what we do with new customers, and to learn more about the industry from a range of expert speakers. Coda Plastics will be taking a lot from it. We can't wait for our next show, now!
