As part of the process undertaken to achieve the BRC Standard for food packaging, we were required to implement a number hygiene and safety measures in order to comply with food safe manufacturing processes.
One of the biggest areas of concern in food manufacturing is glass. Unlike metals it cannot be detected during production, so we were therefore required to replace existing lighting within our premises with shatterproof lighting to remove the risk of contamination.
We also put in place a team to establish and implement a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan. HACCP plans identify potential situations throughout the manufacturing process where the quality of the end product could be compromised and suggests measures that can be put in place to limit the chances of this occurring.
Our staff have also been trained in food safety compliance, with the introduction of hairnets, overcoats and hand wash stations to reduce the risk of contamination.
These are just a selection of the measures we have put in place, all of which are designed to reassure our clients and the retailers they work with that the products we have produced are manufactured to the very highest standards.
